TOP JUNIOR ANGLER FOR THE BILLFISH DIVISION- WILIAM WANGEL (AGE 13) RELEASING 1 WHITE MARLIN 

FIVE JUNIOR ANGLERS RELEASED WHITE MARLIN THIS WEEKEND: IN ADDITION TO WILLIAM,  THEY WERE, BRYCE ST. CLAIR, GRAYSON ST. CLAIR, HUNTER BAYNE, AND MICHAEL ATKINSON.   GREAT JOB TO ALL OF THEM!

3RD PLACE MEATFISH –  48.3 POINTS "JUST ONE MORE" CAPT. FRANK POHANKA

2ND PLACE MEATFISH- 51 POINTS "BACKLASH" CAPT. STEVE RICHARDSON

1ST PLACE MEATFISH- 52 POINTS "POOR GIRL" CAPT. JACK O’DONNELL

3RD PLACE OVERALL- 300 POINTS WITH 3 WHITE MARLIN RELEASES  "BACKLASH" CAPT. STEVE RICHARDSON

2ND PLACE OVERALL- 300 POINTS WITH 3 WHITE MARLIN RELEASES (ALL 3 FISH WERE CAUGHT BY JUNIOR ANGLERS) "SNIPER" CAPT. JIMMY BAYNE

1ST PLACE OVERALL- 600 POINTS WITH 6 WHITE MARLIN RELEASES "SEA WOLF" CAPT. CARL BEALE

THERE WERE  31 BILLFISH RELEASED–29 WHITE MARLIN AND 2 BLUE MARLIN AND A TOTAL PURSE OF $63,430 IN PRIZE MONEY.  CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR WINNERS!  SEE YOU NEXT YEAR AT THE 13TH ANNUAL JULY 23-26, 2009…..IT WILL BE HERE BEFORE YOU KNOW IT.

Permit exemption for recreational boaters extended

Congress has voted to continue a recreational boat exemption from permit requirements that were being considered by the Environmental Protection Agency.

In the EPA’s latest permit-regulation draft for vessels, the agency wanted to lump smaller recreational boats in with bigger commercial tankers and container ships under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.
