Boats destroyed in Norfolk marina fire

 

A fire at a Norfolk marina has destroyed three boats and damaged at least three others.

The Coast Guard says the fire broke out on a 45-foot sailing vessel at the Vinings Landing Marina early this morning. The blaze spread to recreational boats adjacent to the sailing vessel.

Preliminary approval has been received from the Marine Resources Commission, the Army Corps of Engineers and the City of Virginia Beach for the necessary permits to repair the Pier. Progress has been made in securing a bank loan to provide construction funds for the repairs. Princess Anne Pile and Lumber has done a fantastic job in locating re-cycled pilings and large-dimension salt-treated lumber for construction.
